Universitytuitionfeesarecurrentlycappedat£3,000annually,butthiswillbereviewednextyearandtheGovernmentisunderenormouspressuretoraisetheceiling.
Intheresearch,theteenagerswerepresentedwiththetermsoffourdifferentloansbut76percentfailedtoidentifythecheapest.Theyoungpeoplealsopredictedthattheywouldbeearningonaverage£31.000bytheageof25,althoughtheaveragesalaryforthoseaged22to29isjust£17,815.Theteenagersexpectedtobeindebtwhentheyfinisheduniversityortraining,althoughhalfsaidthattheyassumedthedebtswouldbelessthan£10.000.Averagedebtsforgraduatesare£12,363.
